Four Kilometers


CHILE, 06/2016– After traveling for 24 hours in Peru, from Puno to Tacna, we hoped to catch a train or bus that crossed the border to Arica, Chile. Truck drivers were on strike in Chile over tariffs imposed by Peru, so vehicular traffic across the border was shutdown. In the middle of the night, on a long dark road, with over 30 pounds on our backs, and alongside busloads of other people, we walked four kilometers from the border-crossing to the beginning of the strike line.
